Tactical Periodization - A Proven Successful Training Model (eBook)
244 Pages FULLCOLOUR Print 120 Tactical Periodization Topics 60 Tactical Situations & Practices U16-Pro Level   Tactical Periodization - A Proven Successful Training Model Learn the Tactical Periodization Method used by some of the World's Top Coaches Improve all attributes (technical, conditioning & decision making) in every tactical practice Accelerate your players' tactical understanding of their positional roles & responsibilities Players will react quicker, be sharper, and make better decisions in all tactical situations This groundbreaking book written by Juan Luis Delgado Bordonau PhD and José Alberto Mendez Villanueva PhD is a complete blueprint for Tactical Periodization, providing coaches with the tools to organise the whole football training process - from one specific training practice, to full season planning. Tactical Periodization is a proven successful football coaching method. All training is driven by tactical training. It allows you the coach, to improve all other attributes (technical, conditioning and decision making) at the same time, within every single tactical practice. The Benefits of Tactical Periodization: Helps you accelerate your players' understanding of their positional roles and responsibilities in an efficient way, which ultimately improves the team's tactical performance Assures your players are always prepared tactically, mentally and physically for competitive matches Your players (and team) will react quicker, be sharper, and make better decisions in all tactical situations   “It’s all planned and researched so we create these training sessions that are harder than a game. It gives us confidence knowing we have trained to a greater intensity.” Jose Mourinho The " Game Model" guides the entire training process. Training must “model” the game through specific practices (specificity) that include all the tactical game principles designed by the coach. You will learn the principle of performance stabilisation, so you can maintain your team’s high performance levels throughout a full season. “For me, training means training in specificity, creating practices that allow me to enhance my principles of play.” Jose Mourinho   Accelerate your players' tactical understanding of their positional roles & responsibilities - Players will react quicker, be sharper, and make better decisions in all tactical situations This is your chance to learn the Tactical Periodization method which has been applied by top coaches, with José Mourinho being the most influential and successful. Other examples are Vitor Pereira, Leonardo Jardim, Brendan Rodgers, Marco Silva, Nuno Espírito Santo and André Villas-Boas. Many other top coaches ( Pep Guardiola among them) have adopted part of these Tactical Periodization principles, building their training method around the development of a game model and its principles, using the tactical dimension to lead their training. Soccer-Awareness One Touch Training (eBook)
This 102 page eBook explores one touch training and movement off the ball and includes 90 pages of drills that you can do with your team. One Touch Training: Teaches the player WHEN to play one touch; and when NOT to play one touch. We are teaching players to have a ONE TOUCH MENTALITY. A One touch mentality teaches players to recognize the best options; and therefore make the best DECISIONS; BEFORE and in ADVANCE of receiving the ball.                                             Movement OFF the ball: This mentality conditions the mind of players OFF the ball to position and move to help the player who is receiving the ball. This means we want players to always; at every moment; THINK:  “I only have One touch”; therefore this will force players to always do what I call the “LOOK and THINK” before they receive the ball to see several options and pick out their best option, which may actually be to DRIBBLE!! When you use these training sessions consistently you will see the development of that relationship between having a ONE TOUCH mentality and Movement OFF the ball. So in a nutshell: LOOK (before receiving the ball); MOVE (find space off the ball based on positioning of teammates and opponents): THINK (what is my best option?): EXECUTE (the Decision; or the SKILL Factor). Breaking through a compact defense (eBook)
PDF Preview of "Breaking through a compact defense" Author: Athanasios Terzis Publisher: Institute for Youth-Soccer, (IFJ96) Pages: 79Graphics: 60Drills: 10 When attacking against a compact team, the spaces mainly in central areas are restricted. In occasions like these it is almost impossible to break the lines of the opponents by playing through. However, there are other ways to break through the defence by using alternative tactics. If appropriate steps are followed, such as moving the ball to a free player, playing an accurate pass, receiving behind the defence and these steps are combined with the application of specific principles by the forward (receiver), such as having the appropriate positioning and using well-timed runs, the ball can be played over the lines towards specific areas that the opponent defenders can’t defend. Diagram: Positioning of the forward between defenders the moment the pass is played Drill: Forward uses appropriate positioning and a well-timed run to attack effectively the space behind on the weak side Another option to break through a compact defence is by attacking through the flanks. To be effective when attacking these areas, once again specific steps should be made. Firstly, the ball must be moved to a player who has the appropriate passing angle to direct the ball either to the winger’s feet or towards the space behind the fullback. Then the player in possession has to read the positioning of the opponent defenders and make the right decision about where to direct the ball and what kind of pass should he play. Finally, the winger has to find out where is the right space to receive, behind the defence or on his feet. If it is behind the defence, he has to make the appropriate run which should have specific characteristics. Diagram: Winger has available space to receive on his feet and go for the 1 v 1 Drill: Winger receives on his feet and goes either for the 1 v 1 or for an early cross This book which is based on the tactics of Marcelo Bielsa and Pep Guardiola also includes drills to help coaches apply the analysed tactics to their teams, by simply adding or adjusting them to their own training sessions.
