Modern football training since 1996
The IFJ96 – Institute for Youth Football has stood for modern, practical, and sustainable football training for over 25 years. Our goal is to provide coaches at all levels with the best possible tools to optimally train children and young people—with a love for the game, high-quality training, and a clear focus on the demands of modern football.
IFJ96 was founded in 1996 by Peter Schreiner, a globally recognized expert in youth football and holder of the UEFA A License. His experience as a coach, including at Sportfreunde Katernberg and the U19 team of FC Schalke 04, as well as his role as coordinator of Schalke 04’s youth department, continues to form the foundation of our work today.
Football is constantly evolving—and so are we.
Early on, Peter Schreiner pursued the vision of making innovative training concepts accessible to coaches—an idea he brought from the USA to Germany in the early 1990s, which continues to shape the work of IFJ96 today.
Building on this foundation, IFJ96 continuously develops and produces new training materials and educational programs with various focuses. These range from technical and tactical content to game-based training methods and modern approaches to player development in youth football.
IFJ96 sees itself as a platform for modern football education, consolidating knowledge, further developing it, and delivering it in a practical way. In addition to creating new content, we organize training courses and promote professional exchange—always with the goal of sustainably supporting coaches in their daily work.
Our approach is clear: train in a game-relevant way, foster enjoyment of football, and develop players holistically.
