The fourth part of the "Flexible Training Sessions" series focuses on the topic "Positional Games for 14 to 20 Players".
We coaches all know the challenge of playing against deep and compact defenses. As you approach the opponent's goal, time and space become increasingly limited. To avoid relying solely on long balls, crosses, or set-pieces, a controlled build-up is essential to create space through switching play and varied attacking strategies.
To simulate this realistically in training, positional games are ideal. All four phases of the game (own possession, transition after loss, opponent’s possession, and transition after regain) can be trained in a game-related way.
